Design Specialist (Sustaining Engineering)
DALSA’s Sustaining Engineering Group is looking for an individual who is creative and enjoys solving unique technical problems.
The successful candidate will be part of a team of technical experts focused on optimizing the performance of cutting edge analog and digital circuit designs.
The responsibilities of this position include:
- combining theoretical and practical knowledge to address technical issues
- understanding an identified problem, collecting adequate data, recommending actions and developing / implementing solutions
- utilizing your experience in a structured engineering environment to address component obsolescence and designing for manufacturability
- all aspects of root cause failure analysis
- high speed analog and digital circuit modifications to optimize performance and reliability
The successful candidate will have:
- experience with high speed analog and digital design
- hardware analysis and debugging skills using standard test instruments
- the ability to work under a tight schedule and accurately document, summarize and present test results
- experience with VHDL coding, preferably with FPGAs/CPLDs from Xilinx and Altera
- must be a strong team player as well as have the ability to work independently
- must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
A minimum of an Electronics Technologist diploma (or equivalent) plus 5 years experience or an Electronics/Electrical Engineering Degree is required. Preference will be given to individuals with experience in image capture and image processing technologies as well as familiarity with CCD and/or CMOS digital cameras and framegrabber technology.
